Using Kaltura Capture to upload Videos to CCLE

Kaltura Capture is an application that can be used to record your screen, microphone, and webcam. You can then upload directly to UCLA’s media streaming service for easy import into CCLE.

  1. While on your course site, navigate to a section where you want to upload a video. Turn editing on, click “add an activity or resource” and select “Video Resource”.

  2. Add a name and description for your video, then click the “Add Media” button. In the new pop-up window, select “Add New”, then choose “Kaltura Capture January 2020”. If you haven’t already done so, you will be prompted to download the software. Install the correct version for your operating system.

  3. Once you have the software installed, open the application. You will have the option to record yourself via webcam AND record your screen at the same time. You have the ability to turn off either or both. Finally, select the microphone you want to use to record the audio.

  4. To start recording, click the red record button. A countdown will begin then the recording will start. Once you are finished recording, click the stop icon.

  5. A pop-up window will appear where you can give your video a title, description, and tags (which will help when searching for your video).

  6. Press “Save and Upload”. Depending on how long the recording is, this could take a while. Once the upload is complete, return to your course site where you want to upload the recording. Once you click the “Add Media” button, a pop-up window will appear and your video should show up at the top of the page. Click the “Embed” button next to your video. It will be added to your CCLE page. Be sure to click the “Save and Display” button at the bottom of the page when you’re done.
