What is a page?

As you begin to build out your department's website, and also learn how to use the WordPress dashboard, a natural question to ask is where do I start with putting content into the website. The first important thing to ask is what sort of content do you want to put into the website, and secondly which tool in Dashboard should I use.

If you are adding just a basic page of information concerning your department the answer would be the PAGES tab in dashboard - this could include an About page, a Undergraduate degree overview or information on scholarships. Creating a Page will allow you to place text, images, download and url links, while also allowing you to play around with the way the way the text displays on the page. 

If you're adding faculty, staff, courses, events, news or basic information that will appear in headers and footers then other tabs within Dashboard will serve that need.
