Adding Book Information to Dashboard

Once you've collected all pertinent information for a book, you'll take the following steps to add a book to the WordPress CMS.

**PLEASE NOTE: The faculty member that wrote the book should always be added to the faculty section of the website before you upload book information**

  1. In Dashboard, go to the BOOKS tab, and select ADD NEW.
  2. In the main title field, add the TITLE of the book (please note you'll add a subtitle, if applicable, in a separate field).
  3. You'll skip adding any information to the main paragraph box as this will typically not display unless you've prearranged this for your departmental website - see step 8 for more information on this. If you have prearranged, then you can add a book summary/descriptor here for display on a separate page. Please double-check with CDH before adding information. 
  4. In the Author box, you'll click once, and type the first letter of the author's name. An autofill option will appear. 
  5. Select the author (i.e. faculty member) who wrote the book - if the author (faculty member) does not appear in the autofill this typically means they have not been added as a faculty member on the website, or their page has been created, but not published. 
  6. For the book cover, select the ADD IMAGE button and add the book cover as you would any other image on the website. If there is no book cover, a generic book cover image will appear on the website for such. 
  7. In the appropriate fields, add the optional information of PUBLISHER, PUBLISHER DATE (typically only the year), SUBTITLE and ADDITIONAL AUTHORS.
  8. Either PREVIEW or PUBLISH the book - please note, if you PREVIEW the book you've added it will take you to a URL that will not be viewable on the website unless you have worked with CDH to display book pages for each book - please contact the CDH Project Manager if you'd like to have this option included on your website.
