How to Connect to Computer (RDP) PC/MAC

Instructions For Windows

 

 

  1. Open Remote Desktop Connection

  2. Click “Show Options” to display additional options

     

  3. Click the “Advanced” tab

     

  4. In the “Connect from anywhere” section click “Settings”

     

  5. Under “Connection settings”, click the “Use the RD Gateway server” settings and enter the following information:
    a. Server Name: perimeter.humnet.ucla.edu
    b. Logon Method: Allow me to select later
    c. Check the box for Bypass RD Gateway server for local addresses

  6. In the Logon Settings section, check the box for Use my RD Gateway credential for the remote computer

     

  7. Click “OK” to return to the main screen then select the General tab.

  8. Enter the Computer name and Username for your connection as usual.

  9. To save this configuration click Save As… under “Connection Settings”.

     

  10. Browse to your desired save location and enter a name for the connection for File Name then click “Save”.

     

  11. Once on the main screen click “Connect” to initiate the connection and enter your Humnet password if prompted.

 

 

Instructions For MAC

  1. Verify that Microsoft Remote Desktop 8.0 or higher is installed.
    If you are running an older version of Microsoft Remote Desktop, please download the latest client from the App Store. This has been tested and confirmed working on both 8.0 & RD 10.0

  2. Open Microsoft Remote Desktop

     

     

  3. Click Preferences

     

  4. Select “Gateways” option

     

     

  5. Press the “+” button on the bottom of the white pane

  6. Enter the following information:
    a. Gateway Name: perimeter.humnet.ucla.edu
    b. Friendly Name: Humnet Gateway

     

  7. Add a user by clicking on the drop down arrow for the User account field and select “Add User Account…”
    Enter the following information:
    a. Username: humnet\YourHumnetUsername
    b. Password: Your Humnet password
    c. Friendly name: My Humnet username

  8. Close the Window to return to the Main Screen.

  9. Then select the connection that you would like to apply the gateway setting and click Edit.

     

  10. In the General section, look for the gateway option and select Humnet Gateway and click on Save.

     

  11. Close the window. The connection is now configured to use the gateway. You can connect to it as usual.
