TRELLIX - The installation failed - MAC OSX

Error message: “The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.”

Troubleshooting steps:

Delete all files and folders from FireEye - XAGT. Start by going to the “Library” folder.

Open up Finder and within the top menu bar, navigate onto Go > Computer > Macintosh HD(Name of Hard Drive) > Library.

From the “Library” folder, you will search for any folders with FireEye and delete them.

Afterwards; within the “Library” folder, open up the “Application Support” folder.

  • Look for FireEye folder and delete.

Go back to the Library Folder; open up the “Preferences” folder.

  • Look for FireEye-XAGT plist files and delete them.

Go back to the Library Folder; open up the “LaunchAgents” folder.

  • Look for FireEye-XAGT plist files and delete them.

Go back to the Library Folder; open up the “LaunchDaemons” folder.

  • Look for FireEye-XAGT plist files and delete them.

Log into Box via the browser and then go to this link for Trellix Endpoint Security.

Follow this path to download the Uninstall tool script.

  • Trellix Endpoint Security > Agent Install Packages > Additional Agent Documentation > Agent-LogCollectionScript-MacOS > uninstall.tool

Download the uninstall tool and keep in mind the location of the file.

After you download the file, open up Terminal.

Type within Terminal: sudo bash ./uninstall tool --remove-helper

*Note: Drag the uninstall tool file into the terminal after the ./

After you run the script above, you will run the same script again, except you will eliminate:

--remove-helper

After that is completed, restart the computer.

After the reboot, download the Trellix installer ver.35

  • Pathway to download Trellix ver.35: Trellix Endpoint Security > Older Agent Version > IMAGE_HX_AGENT_OSX_35.31.25.dmg

Download the file and begin the installation again. It should start installing as normal from here.
