Description

Crossroads are an interactive kind of content that can be added to a video in order to pose a multiple choice question and jump to a specific part by timecode depending on the student’s response.

Use

Crossroads are a component type, and can be incorporated into a video. They cannot be used on their own. For more information on how H5P types work and how they interact, see http://humtech.ucla.edu/instructional-support/ccle-activities-resources/h5p/

Instructions

In order to activate Crossroads, you first have to create an Interactive Video assignment through H5P. Once you have uploaded/embedded a video, go to step 2 to add interactive elements such as Crossroads.

Locate the Crossroads icon in the ribbon above the video. The icon resembles a signpost. Drag the icon into the body of the video.

An popup page of options will appear:

Features:

  • Display time: the timeframe in the video during which you wish for the Crossroads prompt to display

    • Pause video: checking this box means that the video will be paused when the Crossroads activity is activated

  • Question Text: the question that students will respond to

  • Choices: default begins with two but can add more or delete existing mores

    • Choice Text: an answer that students can choose

    • Go To: the timestamp that choosing this particular answer will take the student to

    • If Chosen Text: optional message that will appear when student chooses that option
