This section is divided into creating both the main menu for the Header, and also adding pages to the main header menus which have already been created.

CREATING A NEW HEADER MENU STRUCTURE

  1. In the Dashboard go to Appearance/Menus
  2. Find the "Select a Menu to Edit" box and select "create a new menu"
  3. Give this main menu item a name that corresponds what pages will be found within it (i.e. About, Academics) - typically we name menus as such "Academics (Academics)"
  4. Click "save menu"

ADDING MENU ITEMS TO AN ALREADY EXISTING HEADER MENU

  1. In the Dashboard go to Appearance/Menus
  2. Find the "Select a Menu to Edit" box and select the menu you wish to add pages to
  3. Utilizing the toolbox on the left side of the page called "Pages" you can find the pages you wish to add by using the Most Recent, View All, Search functions
  4. Check the page(s) you'd like to add to the menu and select "Add to Menu"
  5. The pages you select will automatically be added to the bottom of the menu - these items are easily movable up and down, left to right, in order to correspond you want a visitor to the website to see the item within a menu
  6. A few things to note on where you place the menu item within the actual menu
    1. Only those items that are flush to the left of the menu items will appear in the drop down menu
    2. Those items that are placed one space to the right, or two spaces to the right, will not appear in the drop down menu
    3. All items that are placed one or two spaces over however will appear in all side menus for the corresponding section of the website

       7. Select Save Menu in order for your menu items to appear
