Allowing for student accommodations in a course can be done in several waysInstructors will sometimes receive information from the UCLA Center for Accessible Education (CAE) regarding accommodations that must be made for a particular student. The most common form of accommodation however is a request for extended time on quizzes from Center for Accessible Education (CAE). Here, we will go over accommodations that can be granted in Bruin Learn to make both teaching and learning more streamline.

Granting extended time on student quizzes in Bruin Learn:

To grant student extra quiz time or extra quiz attempts to take a quiz.

To grant a student extra time or extra attempts for an exam, you will not have to create a separate quiz. Instead, you can create a single quiz for the class, then modify quiz times and attempts per student using the Moderate Quizoption.

To moderate a quiz:

  1. Open the course where a student has requested CAE accommodations.

  2. In the left-hand panel click on the Quizzes link in the course navigation.

  3. Click on the Name of the quiz you wish to provide accommodations for, and

  1. in the right-hand side menu, choose Moderate This Quiz.

  1. On this screen, you can view the specific attempts of a single student via the Search People field.

  2. Once you have found the student(s), click on the Edit icon (gray pencil) to the right of their name. This will open a popup window where extra time or attempts may be added.
