Instructors will sometimes receive information from the UCLA Center for Accessible Education (CAE) regarding accommodations that must be made for a particular student. The most common form of accommodation is a request for extended time to take a quiz.

To grant a student extra time or extra attempts for an exam, you will not have to create a separate quiz. Instead, you can create a single quiz for the class, then modify quiz times and attempts per student using the Moderate Quiz option.

To moderate a quiz:

  1. Open the course where a student has requested CAE accommodations.

  2. In the left-hand panel click on the Quizzes link in the course navigation.

  3. Click on the Name of the quiz you wish to provide accommodations for, and in the right-hand side menu, choose Moderate This Quiz. On this screen, you can view the specific attempts of a single student via the Search People field.

  4. Once you have found the student(s), click on the Edit icon (gray pencil) to the right of their name. This will open a popup window where extra time or attempts may be added.
